Community Managed Arsenic Project (CMAP)

Community Managed Arsenic Project (CMAP) was a process oriented project and based on the community demand. Its activities and strategies were designed on a quarterly basis jointly by VDC/S leaders and PNGO representatives. Community leaders’ facilitated processes for identifying needs, drawing up plans for action and sharing responsibilities from assessment to evaluation.

The community management approach can help the community to face the lack of technological solutions and to select and follow their own chosen way of ensuring safe water in their communities. A six-step participatory process to solve the arsenic problems was designed by Village Development Committees (VDCs)/Village Development Somitys (VDSs) as well as by the NGOs VORD, AVA and DASCOH staff.
