Guiding Principle

The following principles and values will guide the work of DASCOH and are embedded in everything that DASCOH does. They also form the foundation for the professional and ethical conduct of the DASCOH Board and staff.

Humanitarianism

DASCOH promotes the delivery of services for people, irrespective of ability, age, religion, ethnicity, creed, colour, caste or gender.

Participation

All people have a right to dignity, respect, and fair treatment, to be heard and to take part in the decisions that influence and shape their world. DASCOH’s engagement with communities encourages voluntary participation.

Equity

DASCOH seeks equity in access to development outcomes through the promotion of policies and practices that ensure a minimum level of service for those who are the most vulnerable and likely to be excluded.

Pro-Poor

Poverty excludes people from full participation in society. DASCOH promotes social inclusion by working with people living in absolute poverty in ways which place them at the centre of development interventions.

Do No Harm

DASCOH believes in and practices “do-no-harm” in program design by integrating conflict and environmental sensitive approaches into the implementation of all programs.

Gender Parity

Recognizing that roles in society may be unfairly divided by gender that can lead to a disparity in access to development outcomes, DASCOH nurtures gender awareness in program design, management and operation.
