Community-based Multi Purpose Cyclone Shelter Project (CMCS) was a pilot project in the cyclone prone coastal area in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar district implemented by DASCOH and financially supported by Swiss and French Red Cross. These shelters were constructed in villages Tulatuli, Khachubunia and Khonkharpara of Teknaf union and upazila, Cox’s Bazaar district. After the successful completion of the first phase in 1999 with involvement of community people in all level of its construction, the School Management Committees (SMCs) took the responsibility to run general primary schools and to maintain an adequate space for disaster management during disaster period.
